
Adding it, the Costs and Benefits of Investing in Family Planning and Maternal and Newborn Health
The joint report produced by UNFPA and Guttmacher Institute has revealed that a doubled investment in family planning and pregnancy-related care could reduce maternal deaths by 70% and newborn deaths by 50% worldwide. The study has shown that progress on reducing maternal and newborn deaths has been extremely slow, particularly in the two poorest regions, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. The study reveals that the total investment needed to meet existing needs is .6 billion.
