A recently published report brings to light the significant impact that AIDS is still having upon Asia
On March 26, 2008, over two decades after AIDS was detected in Asia, the Commission on AIDS in Asia released a report calling for further and additional efforts in the fight against this devastating disease.
The report, titled Redefining AIDS in Asia- Crafting an Effective Response, asked many questions addressing why AIDS is still such a prevalent problem in Asian societies. Their report helps to highlight the points that will contribute to change.
In a world where it is possible for AIDS/HIV patients to lead normal lives it is crucial that actions are taken to change the reality of the many people who will not receive adequate healthcare. This report takes a step in the right direction by addressing the situation in a concrete way and creating a plan for action. Hopefully it will create further dialogue locally and internationally that will help to end the AIDS epidemic.
